Hancock….Big Willie Weakened.

Sorry Will, but I’m throwing Hancock into the “misfire” basket to rot alongside Wild Wild West and Men In Black 2. This sucker just didn’t cut it for me. It’s another case of all concept and no story as big Willie tries his hand at being a neglected and under appreciated superhero. The film plods along with enough big action effects to keep you interetsed but after it’s all over, you have forgotten what it was all about by the time you reach the cinema exit.

On paper I’m sure it all looked like a blast, but this is a hollow film with so-so performances – Jason Bateman holds things together as always, while Charlize Theron is seriously slumming in a role tailor made for an actress with less clout. Damn girl, you won the Oscar! Get out there and start picking the gritty roles!

All in all….it’s a big fluff piece that I’m sure has made some serious coin, but won’t be remembered as anything more than another Big Willie popcorn flick without substance. Lift your game Mr Smith.
